General: Steam Pressure Reducing Valves (PRV)

How to Inventory:

  • PRV’s are designed for regulating the downstream pressure and maintaining it within certain acceptable limits.
  • PRV’s are “Inventory Required” for 2” and above.

How to establish Condition:

  • PRV’s have a 20 year life-cycle and are often being repaired and replaced on a much shorter cycle
  • Determine installation date with educated estimate.
  • Visually inspect for leaks, deterioration and pressure ranges upstream and downstream, as well as condition of the compressor supplying control air.
