Organizations are presented as a hierarchy, or drilldown tree that can be navigated from the highest level, UC, to the lowest level, Department. The list below provides a brief description of each level of the hierarchy and its function.  The parenthetical information references the unique Tririga form used to build the given level.

  • Level 1 :  Organizations (root), contains all of the the organizations across the UC system
  • Level 2:  University of California (Organization Category), represents the UC system
  • Level 3:  Campus (Organization Category), represents each local campus as a whole and can contain campuses, medical centers and/or other organizations that are part of that campus system
  • Level 4:  Campus (My Company), represents the primary campus organization and contains the control units, divisions, and departments that make up the campus organization.  This level may also contain other campuses associated with the main campus, medical centers or other associated adjuncts (for example, ANR)
  • Level 5:  Control Unit (Control Unit), is an optional level campuses can include if their local organization's use it.  When it is used, it would be the highest organizational level and all other levels would fall under it
  • Level 6:  Division (Division), represents the highest organizational level under my company when control unit is not used.  Divisions typically include several departments and sub-departments under their span
  • Level 7:  Department (Department), represents the lowest level organization unit.  Departments often will have sub-departments underneath them to further define and depict multiple levels within an organization

WorkGroups

  • Level 4:  Workgroups (Organization Category), represents the top-level grouping for workgroups associated with a given campus
  • Level 5:  Workgroup (WorkGroup), contains the individual workgroups each campus has setup

Vendors

  • Level 4:  Vendors (Organization Category), represents the top-level grouping for external vendors associated with a given campus
  • Level 5:  Vendor (External Company), contains the individual vendor company the campus works with
