Applying a Negative Adjustment to a Cost Estimate

The following article instructs (FCA) Inspectors how to apply a negative adjustment to a Cost Estimate. For example, if you are creating a Restroom Renovation Cost Estimate BSII and need to subtract an amount from the total figure of the Cost Estimate, complete the following steps to lower your overall Cost Estimate.

  1. Applying a Negative Adjustment to a Cost Estimate in Tririga
  2. Applying a Negative Adjustment Percentage to a Cost Estimate in Tririga
  3. Applying a Negative Adjustment to a Cost Estimate in FieldFLEX

1. Applying a Negative Adjustment to a Cost Estimate in Tririga

A. Go into your BSII in Tririga and then go to your Opportunity.

B. In the Opportunity record, click the Solution link in the Solutions section.

C. Click the Add button in the Cost Estimate section of the Solution record.

This action will bring up a Manual Cost Estimate record.

D. Enter a 1 in the Quantity field of the Cost Estimate Details section.

Note: Remember you are not trying to lower the cost of each unit of the BSC, just subtracting a specific amount from the total of the final Cost Estimate.

E. Enter a minus (-) numerical figure in the following fields in the Manual Line Item section of the Manual Cost Estimate:

  • Labor (hours)
  • Labor Rate (per hour) (DO NOT put a minus (-) numerical figure in this field, it's not necessary, just a regular numerical figure)
  • Material
  • Equipment

You may use one or all of the fields to create your Negative Adjustment.

Note: Make sure to enter a description of Negative Adjustment in the Description field of the form.

F. Save the Manual Cost Estimate.

2. Applying a Negative Adjustment Percentage to a Cost Estimate in Tririga

Another way you may also lower the cost of the original Cost Estimate by completing the following:

B. Enter a minus (-) percentage figure in Adjustment Factor (%) field in the Cost Estimate Details section.

C. Save the Cost Estimate Unit Line Item record.

This action will subtract a percentage of the cost of your original Cost Estimate Unit Line Item.
