Creating Space Records in Tririga Using Auto CAD

Before starting make sure that Tririga CAD Integrator is installed on your Auto CAD program.

1. Open Auto CAD

Go to the Shared Drive where the CAD drawing is stored and open it in Auto CAD.

Click Layer Properties on your Auto CAD tool bar.

Ensure the following Layers exist in the CAD drawing:

  • ASF for Gross Area
  • GSFI for Measured Area
  • A-Area-Space for all spaces in the CAD drawing
  • A-Area-Iden for the Room titles or numbers

NOTE: If those Layers are not listed in the Layers list for this CAD drawing, create those Layers immediately using standard Auto CAD layer creation procedures.

Go to the CAD Drawing.  

2. Adding the Layers to the Drawing.

Click the Gross Area portion of the CAD Drawing.

Right click your mouse, and select Properties from the pop menu.

Select ASF (for Gross Area of the floor) from Layer in the Polyline dialog box.

Click Save.

Click the Measure Area portion of the CAD Drawing.

Right click your mouse, and select Properties from the pop menu.

Select GSFI (for Measured Area of the floor) from Layer in the Polyline dialog box.

Click Save.

Click the Spaces portion of the CAD Drawing.

Right click your mouse, and select Properties from the pop menu.

Select A-Area-Space (for all of the Space areas of the floor) from Layer in the Polyline dialog box.

Click Save.

Click the Room or Space or Room Numbers portion of the CAD Drawing.

Right click your mouse, and select Properties from the pop menu.

Select A-Area-Iden (for all of the Space areas of the floor) from Layer in the Polyline dialog box.

Click Save.

3. Publishing CAD Drawing Information into Tririga

Go to the tool bar and click IBM Tririga, and select Login from the drop-down menu.

Enter your Tririga User Name and Password in the Tririga CAD Integrator/Publish Login dialog box.

NOTE: To login to a different Tririga environment in your Auto CAD session, go to the article Changing the Tririga Login Environment in Auto CAD.

When logged into Tririga again click IBM Tririga from the tool bar, and select Attach and then Smart Attach from the drop-down menu.

4. Complete the following in the Smart Attach Dialog Box

In the Attach Drawing Layers section, ensure the following Layer Names are selected:

  • For Gross Area - Select ASF
  • For Measured Gross Area - Select GSFI

 

Scroll down to the Upload section and click the spy-glass icon next to the Default field for Current Use Space Class.

Select the value for the Current Use Space Class for the spaces of this CAD drawing in the Select a Value dialog box.

Scroll down to the Layers to Upload section. section, ensure the following Layer Names are selected:

  • For the Names or Numbers for the spaces - Select A-Area-Iden
  • For the Spaces - Select A-Area-Space

On the right side of the Smart Attach dialog box drill down in the locations hierarchy to locate the Building and Floor where the new space information is to be published.

Select the Floor.  

Click the OK button.

Check the new Spaces that will be uploaded to the Building record in Tririga in the Candidates for Upload dialog box.

If there are no errors reported click the Upload button.

Once the new records have been uploaded to successfully to Tririga, the Smart Attach Results dialog box will display.

Click OK.  

Open Tririga, go to the Location Hierarchy and locate the Building and Floor where the new Space records have been uploaded from Auto CAD.

Ensure all of the Spaces have uploaded to the Floor record.
